Discovering God, by Peter Stark (220.22). This book looks at the origins of the major religions, with the question, “Do people invent God, or do they discover God?” Stark says God created us and we discover God, in a wide variety of searches. I recommend to you his chapter on Islam, which has a number of historical points.
Prayer Point, the March/April 2008 booklet. It is a prayer ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, at the end of the table. Articles include “Out of the Ashes, Rebuilding Sudan’s Churches”, “Mozambique; Water for Life”, Macedonia, Warming Hands and Hearts.” It is on the table, along with Sojourners magazines.
The Gospel, the complete story of Jesus that interweaves all details of the four Gospels in the words of the New International Version of the Bible, compiled by Kermit Zarley, (226). Zarley is a professional golfer who studies the Gospels and used experts in the parallel-column harmonies to produce this chronological reading of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. It is refreshing to read His story straight through, as told by all four Gospel writers, and it is encouraging to us a Bible students to see this done by a non-theologian, ordinary Christian.
