Children & Youth

Acolytes and Cross Bearer

Acolytes and Cross Bearer

Children and youth are an essential part of the life of the church. They are welcomed and encouraged to participate in worship. Some of our youth serve as Elders, ushers, choir members and others bear the Cross of Christ and the Light of Christ into church at the beginning of worship.

Children’s PRAYground is every Sunday for children during the service after the Welcoming of the Children. There the children will pick up a lap desk and sit on the floor for age appropriate crafts, coloring sheets and activity pages. A PRAYground host is available to answer any questions and provide supplies.

Children in third grade and older become acolytes. At the beginning of worship, acolytes accompany the youth cross bearer by carrying the Light of Christ into worship. At the end of worship, the acolytes carry the Light of Christ with us out into the world.

Worship bags and children’s bulletins are also provided for enhancing younger worshiper’s participation.
